Or windows as data? I’m seeing windows everywhere at the moment. I’ve used the windows of my studio as exhibition spaces during lockdown, using a neighbourhood Facebook group to invite the nearby audience to take a look. I’m in Zoom windows while teaching and while collaborating on projects, and these have also become exhibition spaces too. When I buy materials for my installations the receipts signal another type of window and very different audiences, including the machine systems designed to analyse signals created by my actions, and the teams of people tasked to make decisions based on these analyses. Meanwhile, conventional gallery spaces and festivals are are no longer windows to my practice. It prompts me to question the nature of exhibitions and audiences under such conditions, leading to the endlessly cycling animation windows, 2021.
